A strong par 5 to open, played into the prevailing wind. The drive requires a carry of 150 yards over the gallops to a wide fairway narrowing at about 200 yards to provide a challenge for the longer hitters. Most players will lay up on the left side of the fairway short of the cross bunkers leaving a short iron to the green which is protected by a copse of trees on the right and bunkers left and right.
